‘Smart' devices are so-called because they can sense or control their environment in some way. Their cost is falling rapidly and they are becoming widespread, especially in consumer-oriented products. The 'Internet of Things' refers to the idea of such devices that can communicate over a network. The talk will explain the concept in more detail, but without diving deep into the technology! A simple demonstration will be used to show how easily a 'Thing' can be produced.
